COPE NYC presents An Inclusive World

Community Partnership Exhibition Program

Community Partnership Exhibition Program

The Community Partnership Gallery at the Queens Museum provides opportunities for our cultural and other nonprofit organizational partners to develop and mount short-term exhibitions based on their programs and our collaborative projects. In addition, it regularly showcases the work of students in the Museum’s Department of Education programs.

Proposals are accepted on a rolling basis from January 1 -September 1 of each calendar year for exhibitions to take place the following year. Decisions will be announced no later than October 1.

An Inclusive World

An Inclusive World is a traveling group exhibition that brings together self-taught and formally trained artists in order to exchange ideas and enrich communities without identifying labels. The community of artists in An Inclusive World promotes an inclusive horizontal social model by blurring the lines of artists’ identities normally associated with exclusivity. As artists, designers and active contributors of this exhibition, they raise community awareness about diversity, difference, and inclusivity. Curated by Vida Sabbaghi and sponsored by her program COPE NYC, an interdisciplinary art program that uses innovation to bridge and assist communities, the project involves over a dozen collaborating organizations. The traveling group exhibition was inspired by how art transforms lives in many different ways. It also promotes the idea that there are variations of norms for any group of individuals. Developed by COPE NYC with the support of Queens Museum’s nationally recognized ArtAccess program, and Pratt Institute’s Art and Design Education Department, a variety of activities including art workshops, lectures, public art and interactive art, will be an ongoing and an integral part of the “An Inclusive World” exhibition.
