  Yukinori Yanagi:
Project Article 9

Yukinori Yanagi deconstructs a phrase from Article 9 of the Constitution of Japan, created during the Postwar years, prohibiting any possession or use of arms by the Japanese. The installation consists of red neon Japanese phrases arranged haphazardly in the gallery space as a statement of the loss of the authority of the Article. Also presented is "Little Boy," a large fabric piece which deconstructs memories of the atomic bomb vis-à-vis Japanese cultural memory.

Introduction by Jane Farver.
Essay by Osamu Fukunaga.
