For decades, Queens has watched small enclaves of new Amercians grow into strong ethnic communities. Included in this influx of new residents has been a dedicated group of Taiwanese immigrants who has contributed greatly to the character of Flushing, Queens and New York as a whole. Nexus: Taiwan in Queens does not offer a historical account of the development of the borough's Taiwanese community, but instead uses the work of Taiwanese artists, based in both Taiwan and the U.S., to address the issues of immigration, relocation, isolation, assimilation and transformation.

Each of the 18 artists in Nexus approaches the exhibition with a unique perspective and artistic voice. Whether it is Lu Hsian Fu's Christmas Lanterns/D.I. #1 (2004), a visually stunning installation and strong commentary on the role of celebration in assimilation, or Journey to the West (1998-2004), Yan Chung Hsien's artistic adaptation of the 15th-century allegorical novel of a monk's spiritual quest to the West, the pieces in Nexus are stimulating on both an artistic and humanistic level.

Nexus: Taiwan in Queens was organized by guest curator, Luchia Meihua Lee. The artists in the exhibition include: Chang Lishan, Yungshu Chao, Chen Chun I, Wei Jane Chir, Shih Chieh Huang, Hung Su-Chen, Liao Chien Hsing/Jeff, Lin Jiun-ting, Lin Pey Chwen, Lin Shih Pao, Shu-min Lin, Lu Hsian Fu, Massage Group (Chang Pean Cheng, Chen Shih Chiang, Wu De Cheun), Marlene Tseng Yu, Wang Te-ho, Yan Chung Hsien, C.J. Yeh, and Wu Ma Li.
