A preparator at the QMA
An art handler from the Queens Museum of Art assists in preparing a work of art to be installed in a museum exhibition.

Apart from visiting the Queens Museum of Art to see exhibitions, students from PS144Q also learned about how museums work. Specifically, they learned what kinds of jobs people have at a museum. They were able to meet with the Curators, Preparators, Fundraisers, Educators and the Executive Director. In doing so, students had the opportunity to observe the Museum from behind the scenes.

In the Fall of 2002, the Museum hosted an exhibit of student work from PS144Q, entitled Call & Response. All of the work featured in the show was inspired by visits to the museum.
