| Design Your Own Mandala | |||||
|
Using the Just Add Ink section allows those teachers who do not have much time to simply print out a lesson. These activities serve as a framework for thinking about the artwork, allowing students to bring each lesson to completion by just adding ink. |

Below you will see an example of one of the works that was part of the Queens International show. This is a collage (a pasted design) by Marietta Ganapin, an artist who was born in the Philippines. Using cutouts from art exhibition catalogues and brochures, she creates decorative circular images. Her designs suggest kaleidoscope patterns, plates, stained glass windows or mandalas. These are round, symmetrical (the two sides of the surface are exactly alike), and have a central focus. In the circle below, you may design your own mandala. Make sure the four quarters each contain the same shapes and colors so that your design will be symmetrical. Use colored pencils and try to make your drawing as vivid and decorative as you can, filling the entire circle.
