May 4 - World's Fair Exhibition: Junior Collector's Day with Inspector Collector! - MetLife Foundation presents another First Sundays for Families, and this time we look at QMA's collection of World's Fair artifacts from the 1939 and 1964 World's Fairs. Taking inspiration from this exhibit, Inspector Collector will also join us to share some of his own very exciting collections that include toothpicks, Chinese menus and bottle caps! Join in a workshop where participants are invited to create time capsules in our workshop. These special boxes will contain iconic examples of people, places, and things that capture the spirit of 2008. Free popcorn and movie screenings will also top everything all off.

May 11 - Mind Drawings! - Join us as we explore Jose Ruiz's artwork entitled Feel Free to Believe, featured in the exhibition "This Case of Conscience": Spiritual Flushing and the Remonstrance, and quietly contemplate what kinds of thoughts and feelings that it brings to mind as we experience it. Participants will then work with Cray-pas to create images that visually express their response to this art piece.

May 18 - Workshop cancelled due to the opening of QMA's new exhibition "This Case of Conscience": Spiritual Flushing and the Remonstrance.

May 25 - Breathing Rooms - Looking at the artwork called Meet me at the Unisphere by Takashi Horisaki, exhibited in QMA's "This Case Conscience": Spiritual Flushing and the Remonstrance, join us as we consider the value and meaning that different religious spaces provide for different people. Thinking of this, participants will create an environment or space of their own that's purpose is to serve as an artful resting place where people can go to catch their breath and refresh themselves from the business and activity of everyday life.

Weekend Scavenger Hunts for Kids!

All young visitors are invited to participate in a Scavenger Hunt which encourages them to look closely at the museum’s permanent collection of World’s Fair memorabilia and the 9,335 sq. ft model of New York City, the Panorama of the City of New York.  Activity sheets are available in English and Spanish and those who successfully complete the hunt are rewarded with a prize from our gift shop.

Parents as Arts Partners

The museum partners with individual schools to create family initiatives specific to the interests of the school that take place seven days a week. Often schools seek funding for such programs through the Parents as Arts Partners program of the Center for Arts Education.
