Programs for Senior Centers
The Queens Museum of Art invites Senior Centers to participate in a special series of outreach programs free of charge.  We offer two types of programs, each of which occur at the Senior Center and the museum.  Free buses are provided for the sessions at the museum and each program culminates in a reception at the museum.

 

Art Talk Program
4 Sessions; 3 Art Talks at the Senior Center; one trip to the museum.


Session 1: Introduction to the Queens Museum of Art
Slide talk at the Senior Center; an unlimited number of seniors may attend.
 
Session 2: The Panorama of the City of New York and New York as Seen by Artists
Slide talk at the Senior Center; an unlimited number of seniors may attend.
 
Sessions 3: Louis Comfort Tiffany and Art Nouveau
Slide talk at the Senior Center; an unlimited number of seniors may attend.
 
Session 4: Trip to the Queens Museum of Art
Seniors will visit the permanent and current exhibitions, followed by a reception; free bus provided, though space is limited.
 

 

Making Art from Life Experience
A five-part studio art class appropriate for individuals at all artistic levels, participants use visual arts and writing to explore memories and make connections across their lives.  The program consists of five sessions:  one session at the Senior Center and four sessions at the museum.  All sessions at the museum take place on Thursdays and space is limited to 20 people.  Free busing to the museum is provided for all museum sessions.

Making Art from Life Experience is presented with Elders Share the Arts.


Session 1: Orientation to the project at the Senior Center
 
Sessions 2-5: Project continues in the museum’s art studios with an
end-of-project reception.
