FACE THE MUSIC

Sunday, January 8, 2:00 pm – 4:30 pm, 2012

FACE THE MUSIC returns to Queens Museum of Art, kicking off 2012! The city’s premier urban museum will host the teen post-classical band in the theater, as part of Target’s Free First Sunday’s. FACE THE MUSIC will present some of today’s best new music written by living composers. This is a string-heavy program, featuring Kenji Bunch’s viola quintet – String Circle, LJOVA’s hard-driving dance “Ori’s Fearful Symmetry, and Osvaldo Goljov’s eulogy to the tango’s musical master, “Last Round”. FACE THE MUSIC will then jam to group member Zachary Detrick’s “Blisters on My Finger’s”. The band will spin a wicked rendition of the megaton contemporary classic, “Glassworks” by Philip Glass, coinciding with the composer’s 75th year. Come and join this talented group of teen that the New York Times calls “…polished, exuberant”.

Music sets at 2pm and 3:30pm – Theater
