ABOUT THE TEACHING ARTIST: Teaching Artist, Sol Aramendi is an art educator at the Queens Museum of Art. She believes in art teaching as a tool that connects people with the community, opening a dialogue of understanding and social strength, as well as a vehicle to help explore identity issues.

Sol Aramendi will be working with an ArtAccess Educator trained in supporting people with special needs through art. ArtAccess is an award winning program of the Queens Museum of Art dedicated to visitors with special needs. This course will have Spanish Language and Autism supports. Parent & Child will be paired to explore the activities together. Equipment will be provided through the Queens Museum of Art’s Education Department. Artwork will be displayed during a culminating event.

COST: FREE, equipment will be provided during the class sessions.

REGISTRATION: Registration is limited to 6 families.

The Queens Museum of Art and Queens Library are embarking on a multi-year partnership that will engage families with children who have an Autism Spectrum Disorder.

The therapeutic art programs created for these families will be bilingual, and take place at several Queens Library branches.
