Film Series: Making and Breaking Cities – FLASH OF GENIUS

Making and Breaking Cities is a film series inspired by the current exhibitions Detroit Disassembled: Photographs by Andrew Moore and Elegies for Empire: Selections from Andrew Moore’s Inside Havana and Russia: Beyond Utopia
FLASH OF GENIUS (2008), directed by Marc Abraham, 119 minutes. Based on the true story of Robert Kearns (played by Greg Kinnear), the inventor of the intermittent windshield wiper, and his “Don Quixote” legal struggles with the automobile industry.
The Film Series is created by Mark Ethan, a member of the Actors Studio, who has appeared in films including The Secret Lives of Dentists, The Confession and Lesser Prophets. He has been presenting the Film Series at the Queens Museum of Art since 1998. Videos obtained courtesy of Columbia University’s Film Division.
