Open Call: An Anthem for Queens

03.01.17

On the occasion of the exhibition Marinella Senatore: Piazza Universale / Social Stages, join us in the creation an original song celebrating Queens!

Your suggestions for sounds and songs will be used as inspiration for a new Queens anthem, to be produced by Italian composer Emiliano Branda.

The resulting song will be presented as part of Senatore’s procession performance Protest Forms: Memory and Celebration on April 9, 2017. This performance brings together musicians, dancers, poets, and activists to explore the many forms and rich legacies of protest in New York City and across the United States. The artist asks: how does the collective crowd, movement, and music play into the creation of temporary communities united in demonstrating not only resistance and empowerment, but also joy and belonging?

Submissions are now closed. Deadline: March 17, 2017
